About Attracr
What it does
Attracr tracks how many followers a public playlist has, day after day, and lines those numbers up against the tracks that were added or removed. The result shows what playlist curators otherwise guess at: which edits came before the audience moved. It is a correlation, not proof that an edit caused the change. On top of that history it suggests tracks whose audio profile matches the sound the playlist already has.
Why it works the way it does
Attracr is built and run by one developer, and it works the way it does because of a number: 250,000. That is the monthly active user count Spotify requires before granting an application full access to its Web API. A new tool cannot reach it without the access, and cannot get the access without reaching it.
So Attracr was built to not need it. Everything it shows comes from pages that are already public — the ones anyone can open in a browser without logging in. The audio analysis is its own: when Spotify withdrew its audio-features endpoint in November 2024, the tools that depended on it went dark. Attracr analyses the recordings directly instead, which is slower and considerably more work, and it means the numbers stay when someone else's API does not.
The same constraint produced the part worth trusting. Attracr has no way to write to Spotify. Not a setting, not a policy — there is no code that does it. Whatever you decide to change, you change yourself, in Spotify.
Who runs it
Attracr is built and run by a single independent developer, operating from Belgium. It is a personal project, not a company. Reach the operator directly at hello@attracr.com — questions, bugs, and data requests all land in the same inbox.
How signing in works
Attracr has no password of its own. You sign in on Spotify's or Google's own site, those services hand back a token, and that token is all Attracr ever holds. Your password is never typed into this site and never reaches it. Access is read-only: nothing on your account is changed.
Where the data comes from
Follower counts and track listings come from publicly accessible Spotify pages — the same pages anyone can open in a browser without logging in. Attracr reads no private playlists.
