How Attracr works
Three things happen behind the site: Attracr listens to your tracks, counts your followers every day, and keeps a record of what you changed. Everything on your dashboard comes out of those three.
What gets measured
Every day, Attracr reads the public page for each playlist you track and records two things: how many followers it has, and which tracks are on it. When the track list differs from yesterday's, that difference is stored as a change. Over weeks this becomes a history of what the playlist was and when it became something else.
Separately, each track is analysed once for its musical properties — how energetic it is, how bright or melancholy, how fast, how acoustic. Those numbers are what the harmony view is built from.
How edits line up with growth
Attracr puts the follower curve and the change history on the same timeline. When a jump or a drop follows a set of edits, you can see it.
This is a correlation and Attracr presents it as one. A playlist's followers move for reasons Attracr cannot see: a Spotify editorial placement, an artist posting a link, a season. What Attracr can tell you is what you changed and what happened next, which is the part you actually control. Read enough of those together and the pattern is usually yours to recognise, not Attracr's to declare.
Where the audio numbers come from
In November 2024 Spotify withdrew the endpoint that gave applications audio features for a track. Tools built on it stopped working.
Attracr analyses the recordings instead. Each track is run through Attracr's own audio analysis, which produces its own measurements rather than repeating someone else's. It is slower and a good deal more work than an API call, and the numbers belong to Attracr, which means they are still here.
What Attracr does not do
Attracr does not add, remove, or reorder tracks. It cannot: no code in Attracr writes to Spotify.
Attracr does not submit playlists to anyone, buy placements, or contact curators on your behalf.
Attracr makes no claim about Spotify's recommendation systems and does not promise growth. It shows you your own playlist and your own numbers, and leaves the conclusions to you.
